6-month-appt

Brody had his 6-month-appt today. Why does it make me so sad when he gets his shots?! He did great though. After he was done, I fed him. He was crying and trying to eat at the same time. It was so sad/cute.

Head circumference: 17 3/4” (85 percentile)
Height: 25 1/2” (55 percentile)
Weight: 15 lbs 6 ozs (15 percentile…I swear I feed him)

At every appt, they give Brody a book. They will do that until he is 5-years-old. I think that’s pretty cool.

Here is Brody after he saw the pediatrician, and just waiting for the lady to come give him his shots. He had to take an oral thing too. He was gagging on it. The only thing he likes in his mouth is my organic milk lol ;)

Brody’s first rain

As far as I can remember, this past week Brody experienced his first rain. And boy, did it ever rain. Don worked nights this week to cover for someone and a HUGE storm came through a few nights ago when he was at work. It was so windy and pouring rain that it woke Brody up. As I was sitting in the Lazy-boy feeding him in our bedroom, I have to admit, I was a little scared. I was such a tough girl when I was single and was totally fine being home alone, even on stormy nights, and even living in South Phoenix. But being married has made me a tad bit of a wuss. I don’t think I would have been scared if Don were home. LOL.

Anyway, this post is about Brody. He loved looking at the rain. When it was just sprinkling a tad, we took him out in it, and he loved it! He’s a tough little fellow!

BTW…I love living in Arizona where it doesn’t rain very much! Everyone once in a while is okay.

baby led weaning is the plan…

We have started trying to feed Brody for the first time. He is NOT a fan of rice cereals, so I think we're gonna try to do the "baby led weaning" thing. I've been researching it and think it sounds like a great idea! Here are some pictures of him trying to eat. What a cutie!

back to front

I know Brody is already 6-months-old, but today was the first time he rolled over from his back to his front. Yay Brody! And the funny thing is that he has already done it 6 times today. Yesterday he couldn’t even do it. Once he can do something, he can really do something!

My handsome hunk!

expensive sunglasses for free

Never in my life did I think I would own $80 DKNY sunglasses, but I do now! But did I pay $80? Nope. Here’s how I did it…

I was way over due to get an eye exam. I choose Target Optical, since I figure I’m there at least once a week. Plus, it just looked nice. Plus, our insurance covered me there. I made 3 different appts at different places this past week because Don was working nights to cover for someone. While I was in Target Optical, Don and Brody were walking around Target.

My eyes have gotten a little bit better. The doctor said that’s because of Brody! Yay!

After I was done seeing the optometrist, I was ordering new contacts with them, using our $130 I get to use towards contacts with the insurance. I had brought my glasses in as well, just so they could see them. But to get new lenses, it would use part of my contact money, so I didn’t get lenses. I hate wearing glasses anyway. I swear my ears aren’t straight when I wear them. LOL.

But then the girl mentioned that we have a “frame” benefit also and that I could get a pair of sunglasses. And these are not your normal $5-$15 sunglasses. I got $80 DKNY sunglasses for free!

By that time Don and Brody had come back and they told us that Don has the same benefits and he could get a pair of sunglasses too. He got Ray-Ban ones that were worth $130 for free! Nice huh? He needs to get an eye exam still, even though he says he has “perfect” eyes. It just good health practice. My optometrist said that more people are worried about getting an oil change than they are about their eyes. I believe it. And eyes are a huge part of our health.

For eye insurance, $1 is taken out Don’s paycheck. Cheap huh? And the insurance starts over in July again. Guess what we’ll be getting again?! I need a pair to go on walks with too, that I’ll keep in the house. The optometrist said that I need to wear sunglasses whenever I’m outside, because there is a little thing on my eye from too much sun. I’m NOT leaving AZ though :)

I only thought I’d ever get “DKNY” sunglasses from Tijuana.

It’s not that I need name brand sunglasses. It’s just that they are SO comfortable, purple and black, and I LOVE them!

So, if you never use your eye insurance…USE it now!!! Oh, and I LOVED Target Optical. Superb service and the optometrist seemed very knowledgeable. So, I recommend them!

hovering

I just want to share a quick, funny story.

When we were driving up to Cedar City for Thanksgiving, and we were just outside of St. George, I was hovering over Brody (if you know what I mean) and all of a sudden we see police lights behind us. I quickly sit back down, put my seat belt on, and tried to remain calm. The officer comes up to the passenger window and asks Don if his left blinker is broken. Don says he doesn’t think so, but the officer tells him to test his left blinker. So Don tests the right blinker and the officer tells him, no the left blinker. LOL. The left blinker worked, so he just told Don to always to make sure and use his blinker and he sent us on our way. SO nice huh?!

Maybe he was nice because Brody was screaming in the back. He had done good the whole trip, but he was ready to be in Cedar City. Plus, I had just stopped hovering. And if you think hovering is unsafe, don’t blame me. Blame my friend who told me to do it.

After he sent us on our way, I was SO relieved I didn’t get a ticket for hovering over Brody!
